How much does it cost to rent a wake surf boat in North Texas?

Wake rents a 2023 Tige Z3 for $200/hour self-drive (you drive, max 10 guests, experienced boat drivers only) or $275/hour with a captain (we drive, max 12 guests). Every rental is all-inclusive — surfboards, wakeboards, a tube, life jackets, and all the gear at no extra charge. Private and group lessons are $100 per person (gas billed separately after you return). Book online at /book.

What's included in a Wake boat rental?

Everything you need for a day on the water: surfboards, wakeboards, a tube, life jackets for the whole group, and all the gear — it's truly all-inclusive. With the captain option, an experienced driver comes along and coaches you for free while you ride. Just bring sunscreen, towels, snacks, and whatever you'd like to drink (BYO cooler).

Can I rent a boat with a captain or driver in the Dallas-Fort Worth area?

Yes. Wake's most popular option is Boat + Captain at $275/hour (max 12 guests). An experienced driver takes your group out, handles the boat, and coaches first-timers on the wakeboard or surfboard — no boating experience needed on your end. Prefer to drive yourself? Self-drive is $200/hour (max 10 guests) for experienced wake surf boat drivers.

Do I need a boating license to rent a wake boat in Texas?

If you choose the captain option, no — our driver operates the boat, so no license or experience is required. If you self-drive, Texas law requires anyone born on or after September 1, 1993 to complete a state-approved boater education course to operate a boat over 15 hp, and you should be experienced driving a wake surf boat specifically. When in doubt, book the captain and just enjoy the ride.

How many people can go on the boat?

Up to 10 guests on a self-drive rental and up to 12 guests with a captain. The 2023 Tige Z3 is roomy and comfortable, perfect for families and friend groups.

What lakes do you serve in North Texas?

Wake operates on 8 North Texas lakes: Lake Lewisville (30 min from Dallas), Lake Grapevine (20 min), Lake Ray Hubbard (Rockwall, 25 min), Lake Ray Roberts (Pilot Point, 45 min), Lake Texoma (Denison, 1 hr), Lake Tawakoni (Wills Point, 1 hr), Cedar Creek Lake (Mabank, 1 hr), and Possum Kingdom Lake (Graford, 90 min from Fort Worth). We deliver the boat and meet you at a marina on your chosen lake.

Can you deliver the boat to my marina or lake house?

Yes — Wake delivers to marinas across all 8 lakes we serve, including Pier 121 and Hidden Cove on Lewisville, Twin Coves on Grapevine, and Bluff Creek and Villa Marina on Possum Kingdom, among many others. Tell us your lake and preferred marina when you book and we'll meet you there.

What's the difference between wakeboarding and wake surfing?

Wakeboarding means you're strapped to a board and pulled by a rope behind the boat — more speed, more air, great for tricks. Wake surfing means you ride the boat's wake on a surf-style board with no rope (after a short pull to get up), cruising the wave the boat creates. Wake surfing is slower, lower-impact, and easier for beginners and kids. Our Tige Z3 is built for both.

Is wake surfing good for beginners and kids? Is it family-friendly?

Absolutely — it's one of the most beginner- and family-friendly water sports out there. Wake surfing is slow and low-impact, most first-timers are up and riding the same day, and with the captain option your driver coaches everyone for free as you go. Families and friend groups are exactly who we built Wake for.

Do you offer wakeboarding and wake surfing lessons?

Yes. Private and group lessons are $100 per person, with a minimum of 3 people for a 2-hour session (max 6 guests). Gas is charged separately after you return. And even on a regular captained rental, your driver coaches you for free while you ride — so you can learn without booking a formal lesson.

What boat do you use?

A 2023 Tige Z3 — a premium, late-model wake surf boat that throws a big, clean wake for surfing and wakeboarding. It's well-maintained, comfortable, and loaded with all the gear (boards, tube, life jackets) included with every rental.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking 1-2 weeks ahead, especially for weekends and during peak season (May through September). Popular lakes like Possum Kingdom and Lewisville fill up fast on summer Saturdays. Book online at /book or email casey@wakenorthtexas.com.

What should I bring?

Just the easy stuff: sunscreen, towels, sunglasses, snacks, and a cooler with whatever you'd like to drink (BYOB welcome). We supply all the water-sports gear — surfboards, wakeboards, a tube, and life jackets — so you don't need to bring any equipment.

What's the best lake for wake surfing near Dallas?

It depends on what you want. For the closest, easiest trip from Dallas, Lake Grapevine (20 min) and Lake Lewisville (30 min) are hard to beat. For a bigger, more scenic destination day, Possum Kingdom Lake has some of the clearest, most beautiful water in Texas. Lake Ray Roberts is great if you want quieter water. We serve all of them.

How do I pay, and what's your cancellation policy?

You book and pay securely online through our website (payments processed by Stripe).
